APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Abend0a9 FF13 in ISTRPCRS attempting to retransmit a
  segment from the pending send queue.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

  * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ABEND0A9 in ISTRPCRS occurs because     *
  *                      an old status segment is processed      *
  *                      out of order.                           *
  ****************************************************************
  * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
  ****************************************************************
  Consider this configuration:
       HOSTA---EE---HOSTB
  
  The problem may be summarized as follows;
  1. An RTP pipe is sending segmented data across an Enterprise
     Extender connection.
  2. TCP/IP has multiple devices active for EE traffic.
  3. RTP at HOSTA sends multiple packets for a PIU over an
     EE connection to HOSTB. For this example, we will
     say there are two packets called NLP A and NLP B.
  4. HOSTB receives the NLPs and sends two status segments.
     The first status segment acknowledges, as part of the ABS,
     that it has received NLP B, but not NLP A. The second
     acknowledges that it has received both NLP A and NLP B.
  5. HOSTA receives the second status first, and frees the
     storage for NLP A.  The storage for NLP B is not freed
     due to TSC_DLC_DONE still being off at that time.
  6. HOSTA then receives the first status and then tries to
     retransmit NLP A, which has been freed and the ABEND0A9
     in ISTRPCRS is the result.
  

Problem conclusion

• ISTRPCCS has been updated to recognize that if the sequence
  numbers in the ABS are old, then the whole status segment is
  old and no retransmission of NLPs should be attempted as a
  result of this status segment.
  
  ISTRPCRT is included for maintenance purposes only.
