Error description

  • At z/OS 1.11 and lower release GRS DEQ requests, for PDSE data
    sets that were being disconnected, during BMF LRU processing was
    performed synchronously.
    
    At z/OS 1.12 the process used to schedule the GRS DEQ requests
    during BMF LRU processing was changed and the GRS DEQ requests
    are now being processed asynchronously.
    
    This change has dramatically increased the potential number of
    TCBs in the SMSPDSE or SMSPDSE1 address space which, in some
    instances, has led to private storage shortages and ABEND0F4
    RC14 RSN253DC003 failures.
    
    With this APAR the GRS DEQ requests out of BMF LRU processing
    will be switched back to synchronous mode processing.

Problem summary

    *                 caused because the process which disconnects *
    *                 PDSEs which have not been used for too long  *
    *                 schedules the process asynchronously.  Prior *
    *                 1.12 the process ran synchronously.          *

    The process which disconnects PDSE which are not used for too
    long will be changed to run synchronously in order to prevent to
