APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • Compatibility Toleration Coexistence with HJE7780 JES2 z/OS1.13.
    Additional Symptoms:
    MSGHASP710 MSG$HASP710 $HASP710

This APAR also addresses an issue for the max job # JNTLCMAX,
being moved to CCTJLMAX during warm start processing and JES2
may determine the incorrect job number prefix to use (JOBxxx
    versus Jxxxxx).

$HASPEQU is updated to specify HJE7780 as the highest valid
release that can coexist in a JES2 MAS. If this APAR is not
applied, MSGHASP710 will be issued when attempting to initialize
    an HJE7780 member in a MAS with an HJE7750, HJE7760, or HJE7770
    member (or vice versa).

In addition, the JES2 service level, J2SLVL, has been increased.
Releases of JES2 prior to HJE7750 cannot coexist in a MAS with
    HJE7780.

Comments

  • TYPE/RESTART(WARM) IPL/REQUIRED(YES) CLPA(YES)

CLPA is needed only if HASCxxxx modules currently reside in
the pageable link pack area (PLPA).

$HASPEQU is updated to specify HJE7780 as the highest level
of JES2 that can exist in a MAS. The JES2 service level is
updated to indicate a new service level exists.

If you do not have this APAR on all members of the MAS or have
any MAS members at a level prior to HJE7750 you may experience
various problems under the following circumstances:
      - a member of the MAS is updated to HJE7780.
      - the HJE7780 member processes work, updating the checkpoint,
expands the checkpoint limits, or stores output to spool.
      - the HJE7780 member is changed back to a prior release.

In the above circumstances you may experience:
      - a WARM start of a non-HJE7780 member will not detect
checkpoint limits that are beyond what the member can
        support.

Starting in z/OS V1R13, JES2 provides the ability to
specify a generic SPOOL volume prefix on the $T SPOOLDEF
VOLUME parameter. Once this capability is enabled, pre-z/OS
V1R13 members will not be allowed to enter the MAS.
    "$HASP720 WARM START DENIED - SPOOLDEF VOLUME=prefix
contains generic characters. This release does not support
generics in the SPOOL volume prefix." is issued if a pre-
z/OS V1R13 member attempts to join the MAS and the WARM
start of that member will be terminated. A z/OS V1R13 member
existing in a mixed MAS will reject a $TSPOOLDEF command
that tries to utilize a generic SPOOL volume prefix.

Starting in z/OS V1R13, JES2 has the ability to migrate a
SPOOL volume data set to a different spool volume using the
new migrate SPOOL volume command $M SPL. While a migrate
SPOOL command is active or pending, or the SPOOL volume has
a status of MAPPED, pre-z/OS V1R13 members will not be
allowed to enter the MAS. "$HASP720 WARM START DENIED -
SPOOL volume volser is in a migrating state. This release
does not support migrating SPOOL volumes." is issued if a
pre-z/OS V1R13 member attempts to join the MAS and the
WARM start of that member will be terminated. A z/OS V1R13
member existing in a mixed MAS will reject a migrate
    SPOOL command.

Starting in z/OS V1R13, JES2 has the ability to extend the
size of a SPOOL volume data set, to take advantage of
contiguous free space on the volume. The extend can be
requested using the modify SPOOL volume command $T SPL,
using the SPACE= parameter. While an extend SPOOL command
is active or pending, pre-z/OS V1R13 members will not be
allowed to enter the MAS. "$HASP720 WARM START DENIED -
SPOOL volume volser data set is being extended. This
release does not support extending SPOOL volume data sets."
is issued if a pre-z/OS V1R13 member attempts to join the
MAS and the WARM start of that member will be terminated. A
z/OS V1R13 member existing in a mixed MAS will reject an
    extend SPOOL command.

The first $HASP720 condition encountered will cause the
message to display and WARM start to fail. Other
$HASP720 conditions may also exist. Note that it is possible
that the $HASP720 message may be preceded by a $HASP896
DAS VERIFICATION AND REBUILD HAS COMPLETED message. This is
normal in this situation and does not indicate an error in the
    DAS.

Starting in z/OS V1R13, JES2 provides improvements in the
management of the job completion code. This information is
tracked in the existing maximum completion code field in
the JQE. The code for down level releases has been updated
to not report these new settings on the SSI 80 Extended
Status calls or ENF 70s and instead report no completion
    information.

The information in the following JES2 manuals/publications
    is missing/incorrect:
    1.z/OS V1R10.0 JES2 Messages SA22-7537-08
    2.z/OS V1R11.0 JES2 Messages SA22-7537-09
    3.z/OS V1R12.0 JES2 Messages SA22-7537-10

The text for Chapter 11.0 Seven-hundreds for message $HASP720
    should include:

WARM START DENIED - SPOOLDEF VOLUME=prefix contains generic
characters. This release does not support generics in the
    SPOOL volume prefix.
Explanation: JES2 members prior to JES2 z/OS V1R13 are not
allowed to join the MAS because they do not support
generics in the SPOOL volume prefix. A z/OS V1R13 member
existing in a mixed MAS will reject a $TSPOOLDEF command
that tries to utilize a generic SPOOL volume prefix.

WARM START DENIED - SPOOL volume volser is in a migrating
state. This release does not support migrating SPOOL
    volumes.
Explanation: JES2 members prior to JES2 z/OS V1R13 are not
allowed to join the MAS if a migrate SPOOL command $MSPL is
active or pending, or the SPOOL volume is MAPPED. A z/OS V1R13
member existing in a mixed MAS will reject a migrate SPOOL
    command.

WARM START DENIED - SPOOL volume volser data set is being
extended. This release does not support extending SPOOL
    volume data sets.
Explanation: JES2 members prior to JES2 z/OS V1R13 are not
allowed to join the MAS if an extend SPOOL command
    $TSPL,SPACE= is active or pending. A z/OS V1R13 member
existing in a mixed MAS will reject an extend SPOOL command.

This is
normal in this situation and does not indicate an error in the
    DAS.

The following information applies to all conditions that
    lead to a $HASP720 message:

System Action: The WARM start is terminated
    Operator Response: None
    System Programmer Response: None
    Detecting Module: HASPIRDA
    Routing Code: 1,2,10
    Descriptor Code: 4

The information in the following JES2 manuals/publications
    is missing/incorrect:
    1.z/OS V1R11.0 JES2 Messages SA22-7537-09
    2.z/OS V1R12.0 JES2 Messages SA22-7537-10

The text for Chapter 8.0 Four-hundreds for message $HASP445
should include the following reason message texts:

A SPOOL IS USING NON-DEFAULT DATA SET NAME Either JES2 was
warm started with PARM=UNACT or an $ACTIVATE,LEVEL=Z2
command was issued, and JES2 detected at least one SPOOL
volume with a non-default data set name. Since Z2 mode does
not support non-default data set names, the SPOOL data set
would need to be removed and created with the default SPOOL
data set as specified on SPOOLDEF DSNAME= before switching
to Z2 mode. The effect is that JES2 remains in z/OS Z11 mode.

Updates will only be made to the 'JES2 Messages' manual in
    future JES2 releases.
