  • Version 3.0 of the Infoprint Server Port Monitor uses the
current Windows Port Monitor API and runs on Windows Vista
Business Edition, Windows Vista Enterprise Edition, Windows
Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows XP.

Version 3.0 also adds support for Windows Terminal Services
and Windows remote user switching.

You can download Version 3.0 and Version 2.0.6 of the

State that the Infoprint Port Monitor V3.0 runs on Windows
Vista Business Edition, Windows Vista Enterprise Edition,
Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows XP.

8.1 Determining the print submission protocol
State that the Infoprint Port Monitor V3.0 runs on Windows
Vista Business Edition, Windows Vista Enterprise Edition,
Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows XP.

8.2 Section "Installing Infoprint Port Monitor"
8.2.1 Before you Begin
Replace this section with the following information:
1. Determine which version of Infoprint Port Monitor
   to install.
   You can install either of these versions:

   * Version 3.0:  Runs on Windows Server 2003, Windows
     Server 2008, Windows Vista Business Edition, Windows
     Vista Enterprise Edition, and Windows XP.
     Note:  Version 3.0 provides the same function as
     Version 2.0.6.  In addition, it supports Windows
     Terminal Services and Windows fast user switching.

   * Version 2.0.6: Runs on Windows Server 2003 and
     Windows XP.
     Note:  Version 2.0.6 also runs on Windows NT 4.0,
     Windows 2000, Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows
     Millenium Edition (ME); however, IBM support for these
     Windows systems has been discontinued.

2. Make sure that these software requirements are met:
   * Windows operating system is at the required level.
   * TCP/IP protocol is operational on your Windows
     system.
   * If InfoPrint Manager Select is installed on your
     Windows system, it should be at the latest level.

   Note: If the InfoPrint Manager server is installed
   on your Windows system, do not install the Infoprint
   Port Monitor.


8.2.2 Steps for Installing Infoprint Port Monitor
Replace this section with the following information:
To install Version 3.0:
1. Be sure you have Windows administrator authority on
   your Windows system.

2. If you are currently using an earlier version of the
   Infoprint Port Monitor, use the Windows "Add or Remove
   Programs" function to uninstall it.

3. Download the Infoprint Port Monitor from one of these
   locations:

   * Download this z/OS file:
     /usr/lpp/Printsrv/win/En_US/aopwin.msi.  Use a file
     transfer program, such as ftp, and download the file
     in binary.  To do this, you need an account on the
     z/OS system where Infoprint Server is installed.

   * Download from the Web:
     www.ibm.com/printers/download.html
      a. On the "Printer drivers and downloads" page,
         select "z/OS Infoprint Port Monitor for Windows".
      b. On the "Infoprint Port Monitor for Windows" window,
         select the "HTTP" link in "Download Options".

      If you use the Internet Explorer browser, when you
      download, select the option to run or open the
      Infoprint Port Monitor from its current location so
      that the Infoprint Port Monitor is automatically
      installed.

4. If the Infoprint Port Monitor was not automatically
   installed in the previous step, navigate to the Windows
   folder where you downloaded the Infoprint Port Monitor
   and double-click aopwin.msi.

5. Add a Windows printer at a new "Infoprint Port Monitor"
   port and configure it to connect to the z/OS printer you
   want to print on.  For instructions, see the Infoprint
   Port Monitor online help.  A shortcut to the help,
   located in the "IBM Infoprint Port Monitor" folder, was
   put on your desktop during the installation of the Port
   Monitor.

   Note:  Windows printers that you added for an earlier
   version of the Infoprint Port Monitor are still defined.

To install Version 2.0.6:
  Add this note:
  Note: You can download Version 2.0.6 only from the Web.
  In step 3, remove the instructions for downloading
  Version 2.0.6 from the z/OS system.

8.3.1 Adding and configuring a local printer for
      Infoprint Port Monitor

8.3.1.2 Steps for adding and configuring a printer
Modify steps 7b and 13:

7. In the Infoprint Port Configuration window:
   b. Select Refresh Printer Selection List or
      Get Printer List.

13. Print a test page.
    Note:  If you see an error message on the screen that
    says an attribute you specified in the Infoprint Port
    Monitor Options window is not correct, reconfigure the
    port to specify the correct attribute.  If you selected
    the Windows Port Monitor "Unattended port" option, look
    for error messages in the Windows Event Log.


II. z/OS V1R8 - V1R10 Infoprint Server Customization,
    S544-5744-10

1.2 Windows client
State that the Infoprint Port Monitor V3.0 runs on Windows
Vista Business Edition, Windows Vista Enterprise Edition,
Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows XP.

9.0 Installing and customizing the Infoprint Server
    Windows client
In table "Comparison of Windows printing methods", state
that the Infoprint Port Monitor V3.0 runs on Windows Vista
(Business Edition, Enterprise Edition), Windows Server
2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows XP.


III. z/OS V1R8 - V1R10 Infoprint Server Introduction,
     S544-5742-09

Update these sections to say that the Infoprint Port
Monitor V3.0 runs on Windows Vista Business Edition,
Windows Vista Enterprise Edition, Windows Server 2003,
Windows Server 2008, and Windows XP:

* 1.3.1 Infoprint Server components
* 2.4 Printing Web documents using the Infoprint Port
      Monitor for Windows
* 3.8 Windows workstation support

IV. z/OS V1R8 - V1R10 Infoprint Server Messages,

Add these new messages:

AOP5000E The OpenPrinter function failed.
AOP5001I Enter a name for the Infoprint port.
AOP5002I The port has been deleted.

         Name.
AOP5005I Enter the port number of the Infoprint Server LPD
         in Host Port.
APS5006I Click Get Printer List.  Then select the printer
         you want to use from the Printer Selection list.
APS5007I Port <number> already exists.
AOP5008I The port number must be an integer.
AOP5050E Registry error:  <registry_function> failed.
AOP5051E Communication protocol error.
AOP5052E The Infoprint Server LPD prematurely closed the
         connection.
AOP5053E Communication error:  <TCP/IP_function> failed.
