getwd() has functional and performance issue with the lstat64() call. The lstat64() calls that it makes while going across FS boundary is expensive and if it is within a NFS FS. then the call will hang if server is not up.
Local fix
Problem summary
getwd() has functional and performance issue with the lstat64() call. The lstat64() calls that it makes while going across FS boundary is expensive and if it is within a NFS FS. then the call will hang if server is not up.
Problem conclusion
instead of making lstat64() call, it will make a kernel call to get the lowest mounted over vnode's inode number and then match it against parent's dirent
