APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • When trying to backup systems with nfs mounted
filesystems that are exported with anon=-1 using mksysb,
nimadm or alt_disk_copy, backbyname fails to backup the
    nfs mount points.

    The error is :
The file access permissions do not allow the specified
    action.
    cannot access ./<nfsmountpoint>:

So the restore will not restore the nfs mount point and
upon reboot the restored system will not mount the nfs
    filesystems.

Local fix

  • unmount anonymous nfs filesystems before the backup
or create post installation script to recreate the
    mount points.

Problem summary

  • backbyname command does not backup anonymous NFS mount points.

Problem conclusion

  • Made changes to backbyname so that if a directory is not
readable backup just the directory (contents cant be backed
up due to lack of access) if its parent dir is readable (like
tar cmd). With this change, the anonymouns NFS mount pts will
    be backed up & restored.
