IZ90681: BFFCREATE -C DON'T RENAME OUTPUT FILES IF TWO PTF HAVE SAME NAME APPLIES TO AIX 5300-11

Error description

• When two ptf have the same lpp_name, i.e. :
  U833307.bff 4 N I bos.help.msg.en_US {
  bos.help.msg.en_US.smit 06.01.0005.0000 1 N U en_US SMIT

  ...
  U833306.bff 4 N I bos.help.msg.en_US {
  bos.help.msg.en_US.com 06.01.0005.0000 1 N U en_US WebSM/
  SMIT Context Helps - U.S. English
  bffcreate -c will not rename the second file with .1 like
  bos.help.msg.en_US.6.1.5.0.N.I.1
  So the second ptf file will overwrite the first one, so
  one ptf is lost.
  

Local fix

• Using bffcreate to copy the fileset from one directory to
  another will correctly create two files :
  bffcreate -X -q -v -t <target> -d <source>
  

Problem summary

• When running bffcreate -c ..., if there is more than on PFT
  with the same LPP name, unique filenames will not be created.
  

Problem conclusion

• Append number to the LPP filename to generate a unique file
  name. Running bffcreate without the -c option already does
  this.
