Error description

  • During an alt_disk_mksysb operation using an migrated
mksysb,
customer receives the following error messages:
0505-107 alt_disk_install: File
/usr/lpp/bos.alt_disk_install/boot_images/chrp_6.1.0_boot
 does
not exist or is zero length.
0505-143 alt_disk_install: Unable to match mksysb level
6.1.3
with any available boot images.  Please correct this
problem
and re-execute phase 3 or run "alt_disk_install -X" to
clean up.

  • The alt_disk_mksysb will fail with 0505-107 and 0505-143

Problem conclusion


    

  • Make sure that a back level generic bosboot.disk.chrp of the
original mksysb is not used by alt_disk_mksysb which allows
a later level to be valid.
