IZ82566: DEVICE FILE ON A READ-ONLY MOUNTED NAMEFS CAN BE DELETED APPLIES TO AIX 5300-10

APAR status

Error description

• A device file can be deleted on a read-only mounted
  namefs.
  example :
  cd /tmp
  mkdir namefs_src
  mkdir namefs_mnt
  echo "anystring" > namefs_src/regfile
  mknod namefs_src/devfile b 1 1
  mount -r namefs_src namefs_mnt
  cd namefs_mnt
  rm regfile # fails with error "read-only filesystem", as
  expected
  rm devfile # works although the filesystem is read-only

• device file on  a read-only mounted namefs can be deleted.
  

Problem conclusion

• Put in place appropriate check for read-only mounted
  Filesystem; in FS specific deletion routine.
