IZ82354: RESTVG TREATS BACKUP FILENAME WITH RMT AS REGULAR DEVICE NAME APPLIES TO AIX 5300-09

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • During restvg, if the backup filename contains the
string:
"rmt", the lsattr command will display the following
message:

lsattr: 0514-546 Invalid parameter

0512-007 listvgbackup: Abnormal program termination.
0512-007 restvg: Abnormal program termination.

This behavior is present with either a root Volume group
or a regular user Volume Group backup.

Local fix

  • Use a backup filename that does not contain the string
name
'rmt'.

Problem summary

  • When running the listvgbackup command with a file that contains
the "rmt" string, the following error may shown:

lsattr: 0514-546 Invalid parameter

0512-007 listvgbackup: Abnormal program termination.

Problem conclusion

  • Improve check when determining if the backup image is a tape
or regular file.
