APAR status

Error description

  • Dump to Qlogic FC adapter attached devices will fail with
EIO (dump failure return code of 4) On 61 TL 4 & TL 5

Local fix

  • use a non-qlogic dump devices (internal SAS/ Emulex FC)

Problem summary

  • If an attempt is made to dump to a storage device attached
via a QLogic FC or FCoE adapter, the dump will fail,
resulting in an invalid partial dump.

Problem conclusion

  • The QLogic FC/FCoE adapter driver is fixed to properly
update the adapter's I/O queue data structure to prevent
the adapter from thinking the queue is full.
