  • After using chdev to clear a pv (pv=clear) on a SAS RAID Array,
cfgmgr will clear the PVID value when it is next run
(even when the disk is available).

* the devices.common.IBM.sissas.rte fileset at the 6.1.1.1
* through 6.1.1.6 level.

* PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
* After using chdev to clear a pv (pv=clear) on a SAS RAID
* Array, cfgmgr will clear the PVID value when it is next run
* (even when the disk is available).  This can cause loss of
* data in block 0 of the disk when the disk is used as a raw
* device.

* RECOMMENDATION:
* Install APAR IZ75454.
****************************************************************

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • During configuration (cfgmgr), do not check the pv attribute
for any pending pv operations such as pv=clear when the disk
is already in the Available state.
