Error description

  • Applications using IOCP may crash the
    system or lead to an application hang in
    GetMultipleCompletionStatus() routine.
    

Local fix

  • 1. Stay at 6.1 TL03 or below
    or
    2. Do not activate IOCP.
    

Problem summary

    * USERS AFFECTED:
    * Users of IOCP on AIX 6.1 Technology Level 4 with the
    * bos.iocp.rte fileset below the 6.1.4.3 level.
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
    * Applications using IOCP may crash the system or lead to a
    * system hang in the GetMultipleCompletionStatus() routine.
    * This is known to affect DB2 with IOCP activated.
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:
    * Install APAR IZ74508.
    * Prior to APAR availability, and interim fix is available at
    * ftp://public.dhe.ibm.com/aix/efixes/iz74508/
    ****************************************************************
    

Problem conclusion

  • Properly initialize AIO/IOCP requests with iocfd for correct
    post I/O processing.
