Error description

  • NFSv4 ACL extended attributes exist flag changes from '+'
    to
    '-' after mmputacl done.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • In addition to the permission bits, the AIX "ls -el" command
displays an additional "+" or "-" character depending on
whether of not the filesystem reports the existance of
extended attributes. On GPFS files, this was not being
correctly displayed ("-" was reported indicating there were
no extended ACL entries when there were).

Problem conclusion

  • Although GPFS reports the existance of extended attributes
on vn_getxacl, it was not also doing so on vn_getattr. In
the case of "ls -el" the mode returned from vn_getattr is
checked but no call to vn_getxacl is made. The fix is for
GPFS to set the extended ACL entry flag (S_IXACL) in the
    mode returned from vn_getattr.
