• Closed as program error.

Error description

• image.data is silently created when using the -T flag
  of mksysb, which is used to create a backup using
  snapshots.
  In an older version of AIX, image.data was not
  created.

Problem conclusion

• Created an environment variable (MKSYSB_SNAP_DATA) that can be
  set to "no" in order to disable the image.data file creation
  when using the -T flag.
