Error description

  • **************************************************************
    * USERS AFFECTED:
      * Systems running
      * VIOS 2.2.3.x with pool.basic.rte below the 6.1.9.47 level or
      * VIOS 2.2.4.x with pool.basic.rte below the 6.1.9.102 level.
      **************************************************************
      * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
      * This affects users of VIOS 2.2.4 utilizing Shared Storage
      * Pools and the lu -move feature.
      *
      * When using VIOS SSP lu -move, while I/O is active to the LU
      * being moved, a read operation to the LU may read incorrect
      * data.
      *
      * There is a possibility of seeing these issues on earlier
      * VIOS levels but only if an SSP LU is exported to multiple
      * clients running an application that actively uses the
      * shared disk on both clients at the same time.
      **************************************************************
      * RECOMMENDATION:
      * Install APAR IV84212.
      * Prior to fix availability, an interim fix is available from
      * either
      * ftp://aix.software.ibm.com/aix/ifixes/iv84212/
      * https://aix.software.ibm.com/aix/ifixes/iv84212/

Problem conclusion

  • Internal retry on read after partial read uses wrong buffer
    address. If we are doing the retry after partial read then
    discard the previous partial read.
