Error description

  • The mksysb displays backup errors on temporary snapshot
device files when both -T flag (use snapshots) and -e
    flag
(exclude option) are used. However the mksysb backup
image is created successfully. The error message is like
below. The mksysb using either one of them doesn't
    display
     backup errors.

Local fix

  • Ignore the backup errors on temporary snapshot device
    files
or do not use both -T and -e flags together in single
    mksysb.

Problem summary

  • The mksysb displays backup errors on temporary snapshot
device files when both -T flag (use snapshots) and -e
    flag are used.

Problem conclusion

  • mksysb will now be in the correct directories when creating a
backup with the snapshot and exclude options set.
