Error description
During an nimadm operation using nimsh, the wrong NIM client is being selected. The correct NIM client was wind, but the operation matched the name with whirlwind. As a consequence, the target disk (hdisk6) used in the operation was not found because the other client (whirlwind) did NOT have a free disk with that disk name. 0505-201 nimadm: Target disk hdisk6 does not exist. Cleaning up alt_disk_migration on the NIM master.
Local fix
The work-around would be to remove any previous 'defined' resources that have similar names. The resources that are removed can be added again. This will place the entries at the bottom of the resource list. To remove the resource: nim -o remove <resource_name> To add the resource: nim -o define -t standalone -a if1='network_resource hostname 0' <resource_name>

Problem conclusion
The nim master will now resolve the hostname before attempting to convert to a nim name.
