IV70262: COMMANDS THAT GENERATE OUTPUT ARE SLOW IN TELNET SESSION APPLIES TO AIX 7100-02

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Commands that produce significant amounts of output
  (like ls -l) are slow in telnet session compared e. g. to
  ssh.
  
  Other things to observe in that context are:
  
  When the connection is looked at in "netstat -aon" there
  is
  the same value of 16384 for the "hiwat" and "lowat"
  parameter for the "sndbuf".
  
  If data transfer is inspected using iptrace or tcpdump
  the telnetd will frequently wait for a delayed
  acknowledgement before resuming sending, leaving the
  connection idle for approx. 200 milliseconds.

• Use ssh.
