APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • USB3.0 devices (mouse & keyboard) on Power8 become
inoperative after exiting from graphic interface on
Graphic adapter.

(1) Boot AIX and logon it via Graphic interface on
Graphic console
(2) Logout, then the logon screen will show up.
(3) Try to logon again. But this time, the keyboard
and mouse do not work.

To recover, user has to unplug and replug the USB device.

Local fix

  • unplug and replug the devices.

Problem summary

  • If customers is using USB keyboard and mouse through a
converter on a AIX desktop machine with graphics adapter,
keyboard and mouse wont work after logout.

Problem conclusion

  • For interrupt based devices, the check for abort pending on
non control endpoints has been removed. In most cases, all
interrupt based USB devices will have only one endpoint this
check is redundant.
