Error description

  • When using NFSv4 clients with kerberos security,
operations
over the filesystem could fail with EIO errors
intermittently,
even if the kerberos tickets have been renewed.

Example output from the problem:
$:/home/usera> touch /mnt/nfskrb
touch /mnt/nfskrb:There is an input or output error.
NFS getattr failed for server NFSSRV: rpc error 2 (RPC:
1832-005 Can't decode result) errno 5

Local fix

  • Retry the NFS operation.

Problem summary

  • Intermittent EIO errors on file operations

  • Reset CKU_CLNTDATA flag in clnt_tcp_callit()
