Error description

  • SCENARIO:
    CAA cluster running:
    - bos.cluster.rte 6.1.9.1
    - devices.common.IBM.storfwork.rte 6.1.9.0
    - large amount of EMC disks (hdiskpower)

    PROBLEM:
    - the add operation a new node to an existing cluster may
timeout on the node that is issuing the chcluster and on
the node that is being added, the syslog.caa will show
lots of the following like in a looping:

    with Storage Framework.

    device that matches hdiskpower1159 device.

Local fix

  • N/A

Problem summary

  • CAA operations (mkcluster/chcluster) that register 3rd party
disks may time out if there are a large number of disks on the
    system.

Problem conclusion

  • Provided an option to clusterconf that allows 3rd party disk
registration prior to running CAA command.
