APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The command "ifconfig enN netmask a.b.c.d alias e.f.g.h"
does not add a new alias but modifies an existing entry.

Local fix

  • Change the order of the "netmask" and "alias" arguments
to
ifconfig so that the command syntax used is

ifconfig enN alias e.f.g.h netmask a.b.c.d

Problem summary

  • ifconfing command with netmask followed by alias updates the
broadcast address of the existing ip on that interface,
Example:
"ifconfig enN netmask a.b.c.d alias e.f.g.h"

Problem conclusion

  • Code changes are done to handle the change in netmask
and alis order in command line
