APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If customer disables EITHER the cksum_udp or cksum_tcp
ODM attributes, adapter-based receive packet checksum
offload will be disable for BOTH TCP and UDP. Because
the default value for cksum_udp and cksum_tcp attributes
is "yes", this issue impacts only customers who have modified
one of these ODM attributes. Observed symptom may be lower
    than expected receive performance.

Problem summary

  • If customer disables EITHER the cksum_udp or cksum_tcp
ODM attributes, adapter-based receive packet checksum
offload will be disable for BOTH TCP and UDP. Because
the default value for cksum_udp and cksum_tcp attributes
is "yes", this issue impacts only customers who have modified
one of these ODM attributes. Observed symptom may be lower
    than expected receive performance.

Problem conclusion

  • Modify receive path checksum offload enforcement algorithm
so that it does not disable both TCP and UDP checksum
offload if user requests only TCP or UDP offloads.
