Error description
On a 6.1.7.6 lpar with the wpar at the same level, a change to a FS, such as a mount point and mount=true/false do not get preserved across a save/remove/restore sequence. The wpar is a rootvg wpar. The /home FS inside the wpar was the target of change: ??? umount /home ??? chfs -a mount=true -m /pw/home /home stopwpar followed by startwpar shows the /pw/home mounted. But the following save/restore sequence does not bring up the wpar with the /pw/home: savewpar stopwapr rmwpar cfgmgr restwpar startwpar clogin # mount - shows /home, not /pw/home on hd1 /dev/hd1 /home jfs2 Nov 12 11:15 rw,log=INLINE # grep -p "home" /etc/filesystems /home: dev = /dev/hd1 vfs = jfs2 log = INLINE mount = true check = false type = pwxobbwtest1 account = false /pw/home: dev = /dev/wlv6 vfs = jfs2 log = INLINE mount = false check = false type = pwxobbwtest1 quota = no account = false Even changing mount=true, for /pw/home will only bring it up as an additional mounted FS. Similarly adding a new FS, say, /var/adm/toibm inside the wpar also does not get its FS attrs preserved and shown on restwpar.
Local fix
Since it is an issue of /etc/filesystems inside the wpar not honored when restwpar is done, one may temporarily use a workaround of saving the /etc/filesystems inside the wpar as a separate file, outside the savewpar. Then after restwpar one could restore that one separate file too, then it should be ok.
Problem summary
/home file system renamed to /xxx/home not preserved properly by restwpar of a rootvg WPAR.
Problem conclusion
Corrected restwpar to preserve additional information from /etc/filesystems
Temporary fix
