Error description

  • When SVG has a LV with 0 LP and mirror pools enabled,
varyonvg may fail with the following error.

0516-058 varyonvg: Not enough memory available now. Try
    again later

Local fix

Problem summary

  • In a mirror pool version VG, that is, a VG that has had any
disks added to a mirror pool (even if currently they are
not).. If rmlv command is run to remove an LV, but it is
killed in the middle of running such that the reducelv part has
completed, but the deletelv part has not (LV will show up in
lsvg -l output but with 0 LPs)... Then if the VG is varied off
without re-doing rmlv to remove the partial-LV..
    .
Trying to vary the VG back on in this case will fail as
    described above.
    .
    .
There is some logic specific to mirror pool VGs that does not
properly recognize and handle this situation of a killed rmlv
and 0 LP lv. This leads to varyonvg failing when trying to
allocate structures for the 0 LPs of the LV.

Problem conclusion

  • Correct the varyonvg path's understanding of this state of
the LV so that it does not fail, but brings the VG online,
    partial LV and all.
