APAR status

Error description

  • mkwpar fails because the / filesystem cannot be created
with the following error message:

# mkwpar -c -l -D rootvg=yes devname=hdisk1 -n abcwpar

mkwpar: 0960-351 Failed to create the / file system.
umount: 0506-347 Cannot find anything to unmount.
umount: 0506-364 There are no file systems of type
abcwpar currently
mounted.

Local fix

  • Run 'lvgenmajor' and try mkwapr. May need to run
lvgenmajor
a few times to bump up major number in clash.

Problem summary

  • mkwpar fails because the / filesystem cannot be created

Problem conclusion

  • JFS and JFS2 filesystem commands for logform, logredo, and
fsck will look for only file systems mounted in global to find
any device conflicts.
