IV56273: UNMOUNTING A FILESYSTEM FAILS IF THE DEVICE NAME HAS "//" IN IT.APPLIES TO AIX 7100-04

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Unable to unmount a filesystem if the device name has
    "//" in it.
    
    For example:-
    
    mount -V jfs2 -o log=/dev/hd8 /dev//fslv01 /jfs2_mnt
    
    The above mount command successfully mounts the device
    /dev/fslv01 on the mount point /jfs2_mnt.
    
    But it cannot be unmounted using any option of the
    unmount
    command.
    
    unmount /dev//fslv01
    unmount /dev/fslv01
    unmount /jfs_mnt
    
    all of them return with the following error:-
    
    unmount: Could not find anything to unmount

Problem summary

  • unmount  of fileysstems with "//" in the device name fails
    

Problem conclusion

  • Cannoncalie the device path name before mounting.
