IV55630: CANNOT SET BAUDRATE ATTRIBUTE TO 230400 ON FC5289 APPLIES TO AIX 7100-03

APAR status

Error description

  • When attempting to set the baud rate to the supported
    value of 230400 for adapter feature code FC5289, an
    error is returned.  For example:
    
    # mkdev -c tty  -t 'tty' -s 'rs232' -p 'sa0' -w '0' \
    -a speed='230400'
    Method error (/etc/methods/cfgtty):
            0514-034 The following attributes do not have
            valid values:
    speed
    Closest possible speed supported for this port is 244140.

Problem summary

  • Cannot set baudrate attribute to 230400 on FC5289.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Changed the divisor calculation in the driver so that the speed
    provided will be within the 2% tolerance range of the new
    closest speed calculated.
