IV54985: NFSV3 MOUNT FAILS IF UDP IS DISABLED ON NFS SERVER. APPLIES TO AIX 6100-09

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If customer decides to disable UDP on NFS server for
security reasons or else, NFSv3 mount on AIX NFS client
fails as UDP protocol is required by default for
portmapper.

Local fix

  • Use NFSv4

Problem summary

  • NFS v3 mount fails if UDP is disabled on NetApp NFS server.

Problem conclusion

  • Currently AIX's portmapper calls clntudp_bufcreate() and
creates an UDP socket. Fix ensures pmap_getport to try UDP and
then TCP on failure.
