IV53136: TCPTR_AIXPERT DOES FAIL IF TCPTR ADD FAILED FOR A PORT APPLIES TO AIX 5300-12

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• some port range maximum connections and divisor values
  changed in tcptr_aixpert after APAR IV28045 and
  companions.
  If tcptr_aixpert was run from an aixpert rule on the
  system before IV28045, the running tcp_aixpert after
  IV28045 will fail to change the maximum connections and
  divisor for these ports.
  Thus further check of the aixpert settings using
  aixpert -cp will fail with :
  tcptr_aixpert.sh: TCP TR controls are not set correctly
  

Local fix

• after VI28045 has been applied manually run :
  tcptr -delete 1 12 256 1
  tcptr -delete 13 13 256 1
  tcptr -delete 14 20 256 1
  tcptr -delete 21 21 256 1
  tcptr -delete 22 25 256 1
  tcptr -delete 26 36 256 1
  tcptr -delete 37 37 256 1
  tcptr -delete 38 110 512 1
  tcptr -delete 111 111 256 1
  tcptr -delete 112 9089 512 1
  tcptr -delete 9090 9090 10 3
  tcptr -delete 9091 65535 512 1
  
  Then reapply the rule.
  

Problem summary

• tcptr_aixpert fails when trying to add a port range for
  limiting the number of connections between the ports,
  resulting aixpert check to fail.
  

Problem conclusion

• tcptr table is properly updated with port ranges, to limit
  the number of connections between ports
