Error description

  • A Linux NFSv4 client may hang when accessing an AIX NFSv4
server during file access.  The iptrace reveals an
infinite
loop during the NFSv4 SETCLIENTID_CONFIRM operation with
the AIX server returning the NFS4ERR_EXPIRED error.

This has been seen at least on Red Hat Linux V6.3 client.

Problem summary

  • Redhat Linux client might experience a hang upon doing read
operation on a file from NFSv4 exported directory.

Problem conclusion

  • Client record time is renewed when the DELAY error is returned
to the client. this will make sure NFS4ERR_EXPIRED error not
returned to client.
