APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The JFS2 inode cache may not be increased from its
    default value. This is especially affecting AIX 7.1
    systems for which the default was lowered from 400 to
    200.

    There is no warning or error messages and commands
    may claim that the size of the cache is increased,
    but it is not. A reboot will not fix this problem.

Local fix

  • There is sort of a work-around in that you can do
    two ioo commands, the first one being a bigger increase
    than you want and the second one then shrinking the
    cache value to the desired value. However, you need
    to redo the fix every time you reboot the system.

Problem summary

  • system runs out of inodes and errors with ENFILE

Problem conclusion

  • fix flag in pile_config_max_pages()
