Error description

  • When attempting to install an ios_mksysb backup to a vios
target using NIM, the following message is displayed:
0042-513 m_bos_inst: Not able to perform a network boot
for
<vios>.
0042-050 m_bos_inst: operation failed for the following
reason:
        The node class is not machines.
dnetboot: 2760-194 Following nodes are failed to get
attributes:
<vios>

Local fix

  • Define the target server as a standalone object instead
of
a vios object.

Problem summary
