Problem summary

  • When a customer runs an application, such as fcstat to see link
related information, he might notice Link Error Status Block
    (LESB) stats reported incorrectly.

Problem conclusion

  • According to the FC/FCoE standard, the Link Error Status Block
(LESB) is different for FC HBAs as compared to FCoE HBAs. The
solution is to incorporate and/or report the appropriate stats
for the adapter (FC or FCoE). The specific solution involves,
unionizing the fcph_lesb struct in fcph.h and associated LESB
structs in the adapter driver header files to support both the
FC and FCoE LESB stats. If it's a FC adapter, the FC LESB is
collected and reported. If it's a FCoE adapter, the FCoE LESB
stats are collected and reported. In case of the fcstat
application, today, only the FC LESB stats are reported. So,
additional driver change include not passing the FCoE LESB
stats if the adapter is FCoE capable, so these stats will be
forced to 0, instead of passing incorrect values.
