IV31203: CHMOD -R FAILS WITH EOVERFLOW ERROR APPLIES TO AIX 6100-07

Error description

  • When running "chmod -R 755 <dir> on a NFS mounted
    filesystem, the command fails with the following error:
    
    chmod: /my/nfs/dir: Value too large to be stored
                        in data type.

  • chmod command is not working on huge file system,
    returns EOVERFLOW error.
    

Problem conclusion

  • chmod command modified to support 64-bit length
    inode and offset values.
