APAR status

Error description

  • find /etc/project -follow coredump on recursive link
    from /etc/project/alter/.current to /etc/project
    The stack will show an high number of recursive calls
    to descend ending with a Segmentation fault in getcwd :
    (dbx) where
    getcwd(0x30002e98, 0x400) at 0xd033bedc
    whereami() at 0x10003bf8
    descend(??, ??, ??, ??) at 0x10001eec
    descend(??, ??, ??, ??) at 0x10001b14
    
    The problem can be seen with any recursive link.
    

Local fix

  • Either use the -L flag instead of -follow or removing
    the recursive link impacting the problem.
    

Problem summary

  • Find <path> -follow coredumps on recursive symbolic links
    if ulimit option -n is set to unlimited. If ulimit option
    -n is set to a integer an error "pwd: Too many
    open files" is encounter.
    

Problem conclusion

  • Code change have been done to make sure that the already
    traversed ancestors are not followed.
