IV06166: OSLEVEL GIVES INCORRECT LEVEL AFTER BOS.RTE.INSTALL UPDATE APPLIES TO AIX 7100-00

APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • installp might fail to update silently
/usr/lib/objrepos/fix
odm database.
The failure might be partial or total. So has fix odm
contains TL and SP levels oslevel -q and oslevel -s
might provide incorrect information eventhough
bos.rte.installp show correct level.

Local fix

  • If bos.rte.install was in updated in apply one can try
to reject and reapply.
If it is commited, only way is to fix
/usr/lib/objrepos/fix
using bos.rte.installp.fixdata from liblpp.a shipped with
the update.

Problem summary

  • When running oslevel, not all the applied packages will be at
the expected levels.

Problem conclusion

  • Wait for the inu_update_fixdata to complete before continuing
the apply in installp.
