Error description

  • When multibos is used on a mirrored rootvg, the new lv
including bos_hd5 will be created with mirrors. But
the bootlist will be set and reset only on the first
    mirror
    copy.
For example if system is booted from bos_hd5 which is
    mirrored on hdisk0 & hdisk1.
multibos -RX run correctly, but then bootlist -om normal
    returns :
    hdisk0 blv=bos_hd5
    hdisk0 blv=bos_hd5
    and bootlist -m normal hdisk0 hdisk1 fails with :
0514-229 bootlist: Multiple boot logical volumes found on
    disk 'hdisk1'.
Use the 'blv' attribute to specify the one from which to
    boot

Local fix

  • Manually set the bootlist correctly.
Use chpv -c, & bosboot on the second mirror disk after
multibos -R operation, then set the bootlist manually.

Problem summary

  • After a multibos remove operation on a mirrored rootvg system
the mirrored boot volumes are not properly removed.

Problem conclusion

  • Modify the multibos bootlist and logical volume to handle the
    mirrored disk.
