Error description
With IZ92424 or an equivalent installed : LANG=en_US ls -l gives : total 0 ...snip... LANG=C ls -l gives : total 888 ...snip... IZ92424 changed the builtin message to %llu but the message catalog was not changed. This also applies to other languages.
Local fix
use C language to use builtin message. If not possible remove the message catalog so that builtin is used by ls instead : mv /usr/lib/nls/msg/$LANG/ls.cat /usr/lib/nls/msg/$LANG/ls.cat.save
