APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Sometimes when using dlpi, a receive interrupt and
processing of the receive queues can nest deep enough to
overrun the space allocated for the interrupt stack.

The stack will be very long but is sometimes obscured
because a panic is hit in call_v_adspace_switch. The
stack will have several calls to dlpirsrv, sq_wrapper,
    csq_run, csq_turnover, and csq_lateral.

Local fix

Problem summary

  • Customer would experience a system crash.

Problem conclusion

  • Appropriate code changes made to include a new option in the
/etc/dlpi.conf to make dlpi run to spec. After this APAR is
applied, by default we will run NOTTOSPEC.

    A sample line would be:

    d+ dlpi tr,s,r /dev/dlpi/tr
