APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • During the LPM of a PowerHA cluster node, the
original value of the HEARTBEAT_FREQUENCY value
fails to restore and the clutils.log shows the
following error:
  smcaactrl:1:[92](0.260):  This CAA operation,
      "MOD_TUNE", was ***not*** approved

Local fix

  • Before LPM save the current HEARTBEAT_FREQUENCY value:
 # clmgr query cluster | grep HEARTBEAT_FREQUENCY
  HEARTBEAT_FREQUENCY="30"
Perform LPM, when complete restore the original value:
 # clmgr modify cluster HEARTBEAT_FREQUENCY=30
 # clmgr sync cluster

Problem summary

  • After performing LPM of a PowerHA node, the original value of
the HEARTBEAT_FREQUENCY tuneable is not restored.
The errpt will also have entries saying:
This CAA operation, "MOD_TUNE", was **not** approved

Problem conclusion

  • Check for running cl_2dr process in smcaactrl
