Error description
How do I change IGDSMSxx PARMLIB default from SAM_USE_HPF(YES) to SAM_USE_HPF(NO). SAM_USE_HPF(YES) is the default, when not specified as NO in IGDSMSxx. This parm was made available starting V1R11 with apar OA34671. This provided new function in support of High Performance FICON for System Z. Following text is added to MVS Initialization and Tuning Reference manual: SAM_USE_HPF({YES|NO}) Specifies whether you want BAM (BSAM, QSAM and BPAM) to use HPF when it is available. HPF can be enabled by specifying ZHPF=YES on the ZHPF statement in the IECIOSxx parmlib member: * YES specifies that you want BAM to use HPF when it is available and enabled. If you specify or default to SAM_USE_HPF(YES), SMS sets on a bit in the DFA, DFASAMHPF * NO specifies that BAM should not use HPF. If you specify SAM_USE_HPF(NO), the DFASAMHPF bit in the DFA control block is set off and BAM does not use HPF. Default: YES For procedure on changing the parms using SETSMS command and with IPL: Turn off HPF for BAM (BSAM, QSAM and BPAM) by doing the following: 1. Issue SETSMS SAM_USE_HPF(NO) on all z/OS 1.11 systems with apar OA34672 and higher. 2. Change the IGDSMSxx member of SYS1.PARMLIB used by all z/OS 1.11 with apar OA34671 and higher systems to specify SAM_USE_HPF(NO) so the changes are implemented after IPL. NOTE: SAM_USE_HPF(YES) is set by default for z/OS 1.11 with apar OA34671 and higher.
Local fix
Issue SETSMS SAM_USE_HPF(NO) and update IGDSMSxx parmlib member and specify specify SAM_USE_HPF(NO)
