Overview --------------------------------------------- This APAR gives an overview on supported - z/OS and OS/390 releases, - DB2 versions, and - AIX, Linux, NT, Solaris, and z/OS or OS/390 releases for the application server as they are currently available or planned in future. All information contained in this APAR is preliminary as long as the product is not released or as long as the particular release combination is not yet supported by SAP. The information is subject to change without further notice. The APAR may also be used as master index or cross reference to other information APARs interesting for SAP on DB2 for OS/390 and z/OS. It will be updated on a continuing basis. If there are any differences between the information in this APAR and the official support statements from SAP as spelled out in the corresponding SAP notes, the information in the SAP notes should be considered more recent. The matrix reflects the plans as of the date shown above, and it does not say anything about the point in time when the planned support of any of the items will actually be available. Check in SAP's SAPNet Web Frontend (previously known as Online Service System) which database (DB) and operating system combination have already been released. You can find the DB2/390 release notes by searching for component XX-SER-SWREL and text containing the string "390". The release in above matrix refers to the minimum supported OS/390 release unless z/OS is explicitely mentioned as minimum. (2) AIX 32-bit only: 3.1I_COM, 4.0B_COM, 4.5B_COM AIX 32- and 64 bit: 4.6D, 6.10 AIX 64-bit only: 6.20 and higher . 32-bit SAP kernels run on 32-bit hardware as well as on 64-bit hardware. . Support for SAP kernels on AIX 32 bit will not expire for SAP kernels based on 3.1, 4.0, 4.5 and 4.6. (3) The latest service pack which is supported by SAP is required. Supported service packs are documented in SAP note 30478. (4) Only specific Linux distributions with defined Kernel and glibc are supported: see SAP note 81737 to find out which Linux distributions are supported (5) A G5 HW model is the required minimum (see II12111). (6) AIX 64-bit only. (7) z/OS 1.4 is minimum requirement; however, if it is planned not to use J2EE, it is still possible to use z/OS 1.2+. Note that DB2 Version 8 requires z/OS 1.4. . Extended release matrix for outdated kernels -------------------------------------------- A few SAP modules are delivered only on certain kernels which may meanwhile have become outdated. Following kernels are supported only for the installation of these SAP modules. After you have installed these modules on the outdated kernel, you should replace the outdated kernel by the most current one. . Recommended service level --------------------------------------------- The recommended service level is documented and regularly updated in SAP note 81737. This note should be reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that all PTFs fixing problems that were experienced with SAP on DB2 for OS/390 and z/OS are applied. . A PTF check tool is available from SAP which supports you in checking the service level on your systems. It automatically retrieves the current SAP note 81737 and the fix level file from SAPNet Web Frontend (OSS). For details on the check tool refer to SAP note 183311. . 4. Miscellaneous information, for example, documentation -------------------------------------------------------- The Planning Guide is issued once per SAP release and orderable through IBM shortly after the availability of the SAP upgrade shipment. It is also part of the SAP installation and upgrade shipments. If you need this book before the SAP shipment, you may want to use the book belonging to the previous SAP release. From Release 4.6C and higher, the documentation is supplied only as pdf files on the inst. documentation CD and upgrade documentation CD in the installation and upgrade packages.
