  • THE R220 DB2 IMAGE COPY UTILITY DSNUTILB LOOPS DUE TO IGG019L
ISSUING SVC0 TO DO A 'NOP' OVER AND OVER AGAIN.  THE PROBLEM
IS THE RESULT OF THE LOOP CONTROL REGISTER, REG5, BECOMING
NEGATIVE, CAUSING THE BCT TO REPEATEDLY EXECUTE THE NOP
EXCP CODE.  APPLICATION OF DFP APAR OY30201 PTF UY48670 ON
9004 PUTTAPE RESOLVES THIS PROBLEM.

EXTERNAL SYMPTOMS: HIGH EXCP COUNT BUT NO MOVEMENT OF THE
TAPE. ALSO MAY APPEAR AS A PERFORMANCE ISSUE. ANY UTILITY THAT
USES A TAPE DATASET MAY HAVE THIS PROBLEM.

ADDITIONAL SYMPTOMS: ONE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCED SEVERE
PERFORMANCE DEGRADATION WHEN RUNNING JOB DSNTIJIC WITH MULTIPLE
IMAGECOPIES IN 1 JOB STEP. IF THE JOB WAS RUN FOR ONLY ONE
COPY THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. APPLICATION OF OY30201/UY48670
RESOLVED THIS PROBLEM.
