Error description
DB2 5740XYR00 ALL RELEASES MSGDSNB207I WITH REASON = 04500000 (RC0450 0450) IS ISSUED WHEN DYNAMIC ALLOCATION (SVC99) FOR A DB2 TABLESPACE OR INDEXSPACE DATA SET FAILS DUE TO A SYSTEM IMPOSED LIMIT. MVS/XA VERSION 2 RELEASE 2 (MVS/SP220) RAISED THE LIMIT TO 3273 ALLOCATED DATA SETS WHILE PRIOR LEVELS HAD A LIMIT OF 1635. USER MODIFICATION OF MVS MODULE IEFAB445 MAY CHANGE THE LIMIT AND THE DYNAMNBR PARM IN THE DSNDBM1 STARTUP PROC MAY ALSO BE SET TO A LOWER LIMIT.
Local fix
Problem summary
Problem conclusion
Temporary fix
THE NUMBER OF CURRENTLY ALLOCATED DATA SETS CAN BE REDUCED BY ISSUING -STOP DATABASE (XXX) SPACENAM(YYY) CMDS AGAINST OBJECTS THAT ARE NOT IN USE BUT ARE ALREADY OPEN (I.E. THOSE CREATED WITH THE CLOSE(NO) PARM). See DSNZPARM DSN6SPRM DSMAX
Comments
THIS IS A DB2 INFO APAR. Note: a TIOT entry is 20 bytes long. 20x1635 = 32k the DEFAULT for SYSPARM ALLOCxx TIOT is 32k setting this value to 64k will set the system limit to 3200+ open datasets. When making this change also consider the location of SWA control blocks. The default controlled by JESPARM STCCLASS is SWA=BELOW. Change this JESPARM to SWA=ABOVE. Failure to do so will result in a loss of LOW private area storage and various LOW storage error conditions like ABEND106 ABEND80A, etc
