Error description

  • ----------------------------------------------------------------
IBM Support Organisations should refer to II11532
for information about the electronic submission of
documentation to the CICS z/390 Change Team.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
Where available, customers should contact their
local IBM Branch Office or Support Organisation
        for specific details.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
Only in exceptional circumstances should tape or
hard-copy APAR documentation be supplied to the
        CICS z/390 Change Team.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
This Information APAR provides guidelines for supplying tape,
and hard-copy, documentation to the CICS z/390 Change Team.

Currently the CICS z/390 products are the following z-Series
    and System/390 ESA products:
5697E9300 CICS Transaction Server for z/OS Version 2
                   (CICS MVS Version 6)
565514700 CICS Transaction Server for OS/390 Version 1
                   (CICS MVS Version 5)
      565501800 CICS/ESA Version 4
                   (CICS MVS Version 4)
564805400 CICS Transaction Server for VSE/ESA
                   (CICS VSE Version 4)
      568602601 CICS/VSE Version 2
                   (CICS VSE Version 2)

In every case, the PMR must be updated with the names of each
data set sent and a description of what each contains.

Only in exceptional circumstances should tape or hard-copy
APAR documentation be supplied to the CICS z/390 Change Team.

Currently it is often difficult or impossible to send CICS/VSE
dumps electronically. In such circumstances they may be
    supplied on tape.

For all Countries - Except USA:
      Attention: Philip Vining
      IT Dept, Mail Point 100,
      IBM Hursley Laboratory,
      Hursley Park,

      Hampshire, SO21 2JN,
      United Kingdom

    For USA Customers only:
      Contact CICS Level 2 Support

To prevent problems when processing APAR documentation, the
    following information must be supplied:

    A) Shipping Information:
        - When including a tape as shipped material, it is necessary
that a document on Company letterhead be included, giving
          the following details:
          - Sender: Customer Name and Address.
          - Addressee: Address of the CICS Change Team.
          - Description (goods): Documentation of Software Problem.
          - Valuation: Price of Tape (Not contents).
          - Country of Origin: Name of Country.
          - Terms of freight: Prepaid

        - APAR Number.
        - Problem and Branch Office Number.
        - Ship to code: 5U6 (USA Customers only)

    B) Tape documentation:
        - The tape must be externally physically label with the
PMR number, Branch Office Number and APAR Number.
        - Tape LABEL information (SL or NL).
        - Number of files/data sets on each tape.
        - File number, DSNAME and description of data,
for each and every data set on the tape.
        - DCB information (DSORG, RECFM, LRECL, BLKSIZE).
        - Type of dump/dump format.
        - JCL used to create each file.

    C) Hard-Copy Documentation:
        - Each item -- dump, trace, log, etc. -- must be clearly
marked with PMR Number, Branch Office Number and APAR
          Number.

Note: Only in exceptional circumstances should hard-copy
        APAR documentation be supplied.

    Recommended Formats:
      - IDCAMS Export (VSAM) with details of component names
i.e. Cluster data and index names.
      - IEBGENER (MVS, z-Series z/OS OS/390 MVS/ESA).
      - MOVEFILE (VM/CMS, z-Series z/VM VM/ESA).
      - VSE Power Off-Load, POFFLOAD (z-Series System/390 VSE).

    Undesirable Formats:
      - Faxed APAR documentation data.
      - Dumping files directly from MVS or VM Spool Space,
-- except for VSE POFFLOADs when requested.
      - Re-blocking of MVS Dump data sets, CICS Dump data sets,
or CICS Auxiliary Trace (auxtrace) data sets.
      - Non-IBM or Customer written tape dump utility programs.

Please note that the handling of documentation submitted in
any of the above undesirable formats may seriously impact the
processing of an APAR. This is also true for documentation
that has been processed using non-standard jobs or
      utilities.

When sending an MVS SDUMP, SYSM or SVC dump, you must use the
MVS IEBGENER utility to copy the raw MVS dump data to tape.

When sending a VSE DUMP please follow these instructions:
On the VSE/ESA FUNCTION SELECTION panel of ICCF,
select PROBLEM HANDLING, then STORAGE DUMP MANAGEMENT.
Perform 8 = ON/OFFLOAD DUMP against the required dump.
This will off-load a dump from the system dump library
      to tape.
This can also be accomplished using the
SELECT DUMP OFFLOAD option of VSE Information Analysis
      (INFOANAL).
This tape should be sent to the CICS Change Team.

Most of the information required for tape documentation can be
supplied by providing either a batch job that can be used to
copy the contents of the tape to disk (preferably as the first
file on the tape), or a listing of the job used to create the
tape, or a report from a utility that lists the contents of
    tapes.

To assist the Change Team, when processing APAR documentation,
please include the following information, in the PMR, for each
    data set on the tape:
      - Data Set Name (DSNAME).
      - DCB Information (DSORG, RECFM, LRECL, BLKSIZE).
      - The name of the program/utility used to create the data
        set on the tape.

Alternatively, this information may be faxed, via CICS Level 2
Support, to the IBM Hursley Lab/CICS Change Team:
      - FAX number +44-1962-842327
      - Please mark for attention of Philip Vining, IT Dept, MP100.

These guidelines are provided to allow the CICS Change Team to
effectively process APAR documentation. Failure to follow these
guidelines may result in APAR documentation being re-requested
and delays in processing the APAR.

The loading of APAR documentation, from tape, onto Hursley
computer systems, for the CICS z/390 Change Team, is handled by
the SPA Support Team of the Hursley Lab Information Technology
(IT) Department. Currently (August 2003) the SPA Support Team
    is:
        Philip Vining
        Geoff Pothecary (Team Leader)
        Nigel Ansell
        Jane Mitchell
        (Manager: Ian Turner)

Note: The Hursley SPA Support Team is not part of the
    CICS Change Team.
