Error description
When the user starts either the IBM Systems Director Common Agent or Platform Agent 6.2.1 installer on Windows it will result in an error during the install. The user is presented with a error message pop-up for the Windows Install Coordinator. The box will read, "DNZINS0180E: The Windows Remote Desktop Session Host is enabled and will prevent IBM Systems Director Common Agent or Platform Agent from installing successful. Please disable the Session Host and run this setup again". Impact: IBM Systems Director Agents cannot be installed.
Local fix
We need to disable Desktop Session Host (RDSH) Compatibility: To disable this group policy: 1) Log on to the system with a User that has Administrative Privileges. 2) Open Registry Editor and look for the following DWORD: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\TSAppSrv\TSMSI\Enable 3) Set the above DWORD registry key to 0. 4) Proceed with installation of IBM Systems Director Common Agent. 5) Once successful, chance the Key back to 1 for Step 2.
Problem summary
Changes in the Windows 2008 install infrastructure has resulted in an incompatibility with the agent install mechanism. The Terminal Service add on feature, Remote Desktop Session Host (RDSH), if configured on Windows 2008 R2 servers, will be in conflict with Windows Installer Chaining feature used in IBM Systems Director Platform Agent installer Workaround provided above will allow IBM Systems Director agents to be installed successfully. Platforms: All IBM Systems Director Servers & Agents. Windows 2008 R2. Versions: Version 6.2.1
