Affected Products and Versions
Releases 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3 of IBM i are affected.
Releases 7.1, 7.2 and 7.3 of IBM i are supported and will be fixed. The issue can be fixed by applying a PTF to IBM i or installing an rpm update based on Python version.
Release 7.1, 7.2 & 7.3 support python 3.4 and 2.7
The IBM i PTF numbers are:
SI69146 - 5733OPS Option 4 (python 2) [The same number PTF is applicable for all 3 OS releases]
SI69338 - 5733OPS Option 2 (python 3) [The same number PTF is applicable for all 3 OS releases]
[NOTE - SI69338 is the final PTF for 5733OPS Option 2 (python 3) as that option is no longer supported. To remain on a supported version, migrate to PYTHON version 3.6 in rpm format.]
The recommended way to install these RPM's is to use the IBM i Access Client Solutions product or run '/QOpenSys/pkgs/bin/yum upgrade python2`. For more information about the packages in rpm format, see http://ibm.biz/ibmi-rpms
