1 Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication uses an internal datastore. On z/OS, customers may setup Tivoli Storage Productivity Center for Replication to use DB2 v8 or v9.

2 DB2 Enterprise Server Edition support varies across the operating systems and hardware platforms. Refer to the DB2 publication links listed below for further details.
3 Tivoli Storage Productivity Center installation fails when creating the database schema when DB2 9.1 Fix Pack 5 is used on a Windows 64-bit machine with more than 4 GB of memory. See DB2 APAR JR30491 for details. To avoid this problem, use DB2 9.1 Fix Pack 9 or later. Other options include using DB2 9.5 with Fix Pack 4 or DB2 9.7.

4 DB2 9.5 fix pack 6 is not supported with Tivoli Storage Productivity Center due to problems you may encounter. Stability issues have been encountered with DB2 9.5 fix pack 7 because of a limit change on background tasks and can be resolved by applying the fix described in APAR IC76213 or upgrading to a later fix pack.

Be aware of AIX APARs IV22062 and IV22132 as well as any others documented in the Known Issues for DB2 on AIX document.

5 A reboot is required upon successful DB2 9.7 installation on 64-bit Windows 2003 and Windows 2008 servers. Without rebooting, the database instance will not be recognized by the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center installer.

Fix Pack 4YesDB2 9.7 fix pack 4 should also be avoided due to stability issues that have been encountered because of a limit change on background tasks (APAR IC76118).
Fix Pack 5NoBlocked
Fix Pack 6YesFor Russian and Czech languages, DB2 9.7 fix pack 6 should not be used as installation failures occurred with Tivoli Storage Productivity Center due to a JDBC driver issue. Use fix pack 4 for this case only as the APAR IC87668 is not available until DB2 10.5.
Fix Pack 7YesIf you are using the Windows 32-bit version of DB2 9.7 FP7, apply the workaround from APAR IC91598 or upgrade to DB2 9.7 FP8.
Fix Pack 8Yes
Higher Fix PacksYes, but untestedHigher DB2 fix pack levels can be used with Tivoli Storage Productivity Center. Any issues will be added as they are identified.

1 Minimum AIX levels for Storage Resource agents:
· For AIX 5.3, the minimum maintenance levels required are:
Technology Level 5300-11 Service Pack 4
Technology Level 5300-12 Service Pack 1
· For AIX 6.1, the minimum maintenance levels required are:
Technology Level 6100-04 Service Pack 5
Technology Level 6100-05 Service Pack 1
    Technology Level 6100-06
· For AIX 7.1, the minimum maintenance levels required are:
Technology Level 7100-00 (excluding Service Pack 3)
Technology Level 7100-01 Service Pack 2

You can determine the Technology Level and Service Pack installed by running the following command:
oslevel -s
You can download the package from: http://www.ibm.com/eserver/support/fixes/fixcentral/pfixpacks/53 or http://www.ibm.com/eserver/support/fixes/fixcentral/pfixpacks/61.

Even with these minimum levels, AIX has a 4K response buffer limitation that may affect the information returned by the fabric probe or zone control job and cause it to fail. It is recommended to use agents on other platforms in addition to the Storage Resource agent on AIX.

2 Support exists for file systems and volumes created through Veritas File System (VxFS) and Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) release 4.x, 5.x, as long as those file systems and volumes conform to file systems and volumes created with version 3.x of VxFS and VxVM. Volumes and file systems with new features specifically introduced with VxFS and VxVM release 4.x, 5.x cannot be used.

3 APAR IV15087 for PowerHA 6 should be applied if using multiple cluster resource groups. APARs IY87447 for HACMP 5.4.0 and IY86434 for HACMP 5.3.0 should be applied. Refer to the PowerHA for AIX version compatibility matrix for further details regarding PowerHA and HACMP requirements.

4 To install Storage Resource agents on Solaris 9, patches 111711 and 111712 are required from Sun. https://getupdates.oracle.com/patch_cluster/9_Recommended.README.

5 For Solaris 10, only Global Zone is supported for the Storage Resource agents. The Non-Global (or local) zones are NOT supported. Additionally, Solaris ZFS is not supported for the Storage Resource agents.

If you upgrade from Solaris 9 to Solaris 10, all agents need to be reinstalled completely.

6 The Storage Resource Agent will not allow zone configuration changes or report HBA, fabric topology or zoning information for fabrics connected to hosts running Linux on pSeries or zSeries hardware. These limitations also apply to Storage Resource Agents on SLES 11 for x86_64 with Emulex HBAs and all guest operating systems for VMware configurations.

7 The version 4.2.x Storage Resource Agent is not bundled with AIX VIOS, but it can be installed or migrated following the details in the Information Center:
8 The installation and migration procedure for the Storage Resource Agent on the AIX VIO client LPAR is the same as the procedure for installation and migration on a standard AIX machine. However, the following limitations exist once the Storage Resource Agent is installed on the AIX VIO client.:
  • LUN correlation will only work if the virtual device to storage volume relationship is a 1:1 mapping.
  • LUN correlation is only supported for the following storage devices: ESS, DS6000, DS8000, DS4000, DS5000, SVC, Storwize V7000. It is not supported for XIV or non-IBM storage.
  • Data Path Explorer does not work for virtual devices.

9 The version 4.2.1 Storage Resource Agent is not support on HP-UX 11iv1 or 11iv2. The legacy Common Agent Services based agents from Tivoli Storage Productivity Center 4.1.1 can be used. See the 4.1.x support matrix.

10 HP-UX hosts must have legacy mode enabled to be used with the Storage Resource Agent. If it is not enabled, the Storage Resource Agent will fail to install. See HP documentation for further details.

11 Support for GPFS 3.3 with Tivoli Storage Productivity Center is available on servers running AIX 6.1 and higher.

12 Disks using GUID partition table (GPT) partition style are supported starting with 4.2.2 FP2.
